The follow the Serrano River at a steady pace, with the Paine Massif always in the background, guiding the way. After about an hour and a half, we reach Serrano Waterfall, where we step out and carry the kayaks for a short portage part of the journey out here. Back on the water, the river opens up again, leading us toward Serrano Glacier, with constant views of Tyndall Glacier and the Geike Range along the way. It’s one of those sections where you really feel how remote Patagonia is.

    ITINERARY

    A quiet way to experience Patagonia, moving by water through Torres del Paine. We leave Puerto Natales and paddle the Serrano River at a relaxed pace, surrounded by glaciers, wide valleys, and true wilderness. We camp near the fjord, share a warm meal, and wake up close to the ice. On day two, we paddle among icebergs in front of the glacier, then return by boat through Última Esperanza Fjord with views of Balmaceda and a traditional Patagonian lunch.

    We depart at 7am from Puerto Natales to Serrano sector at the Torres del Paine National Park (if you are somewhere inside the park we can see a transportation for you to the Pueblito Serran sector).
    At the Serrano bank we will initiate the instruction to ensure a safe and comfortable trip. We will load the kayaks with the necessary equipment to start the excursion.
    The adventure begins. We will paddle to Salto del Rio (an amazing water fall) where a short walk and portaging (carrying) the kayaks will allow us to avoid the waterfall. The navigation continues along the mighty river on our way to the Serrano Glacier. The viewpoints from Tyndall Glacier and Geike mountains give us the sign that we navigate close to the Southern Ice Field. This is where we have a break to replenish and enjoy our lunch with a spectacular view. We will then slowly work our way closer to Monte Balmaceda until we get together with Ultima Esperanza fjord waters. At these same waters, Juan Ladrilleros was intensely searching for some exit to the Atlantic sea (circa 1558). From this point, we have a privileged view from the Serrano Glacier.
    We will camp at Puerto Toro for the night, where we will enjoy a delicious dinner with Patagonian wild nature as landscape. 


    Early in the morning right after our breakfast we will portage (carry) our kayaks about 30m to Serrano Lagoon (where the Glacier ends). We will paddle alongside with the blue icebergs that break off from the huge glacier and we will be back at midday to take a bigger boat that will take us back to Puerto Natales through Ultima Esperanza fjord. In it´s journey it has an amazing view to Balmaceda Glacier. We will stop at Estancia Perales to have a delicious and traditional roasted lamb. At 6pm we will arrive back to Puerto Natales.
