Full Itinerary
DAY 1: Trek to Laguna de Los Tres
In the morning, you will take a transfer to the trailhead at El Pilar. The trailhead is about 30 minutes away from El Chalten. You will begin the trek by walking through a forested path. The trail will ascend gently until you arrive at a viewpoint for the impressive hanging glacier known as Piedras Blancas. Following a brief stop, you will continue gently climbing until you reach the starting point for the trail to Laguna de Los Tres. This is going to be the most challenging part of the day! You will trek for 1 hour up a very steep hill, however, the effort is made worthwhile due to the breathtaking views of Monte Fitz Roy at the top. As long as the weather is agreeable, you will have lunch at the lagoon at the top of the climb. Afterwards, you will begin a descent along the same trail heading towards your home for the night, which is a forested campsite called Camping Poincenot.

DAY 2: Trek to Laguna Torre
If you wake up early enough, you may be able to catch some stunning sunrise views of Monte Fitz Roy directly from the campsite. It may be a worthwhile and awe-inspiring moment that you will not forget! Following a delicious breakfast, you will continue trekking through beautiful lenga forests all the while bypassing a few lagoons – Madre, Hija, and Nieta. The trail is relatively flat, which will be a welcome break after yesterday’s climb. After a couple of hours, you will drop into the glacial valley en route to Laguna Torre. Laguna Torre is a valley famed by geologists and photographers for its perfect “U” shape. At the end of the valley, you will approach Laguna Torre, its glacier, and the famous Monte Torre. The latter is considered by many to be one of the most difficult mountains in the world to climb! Following a scenic lunch at the lagoon, you will return to El Chalten via the valley of Fitz Roy River.
